EDUCATION

Coleen (she/her) is a dedicated theatre educator and currently assistant professor at the University of Toronto, where she specializes in drama, theatre, and performance studies. As the Mainstage Director for DRM 403 in the 2026/2027 academic year, she brings her expertise to the classroom and stage. Coleen has also taught Playwriting I (U of T) and conducted workshops at various institutions including: York University, Brock University, Sheridan College, and the Stratford Festival; fostering creativity and collaboration in the field of devised theatre.  She has also taught internationally in the U.S.A, France, UK, Egypt and China.  Coleen has a long-standing history as an arts educator for youth and children and has earned an Ontario Arts Council Artist in the Communities and Schools grant for many years.  She was Artist in Residence for the York Region District School Board, Story Ambassador for Spiral Garden at the Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Centre, developed work with community arts theatre companies such as Jumblies Theatre, Expect Theatre Company, The Children's Peace Theatre, Haringey Shed in London, UK and she developed a theatre creation program at the Jiangsu Theater for Performing Arts in Nanjing, China.
